RUNWAY MODELING AS CAREER IN AFRICA

In most developed nations of the world especially, the U.S and Europe, Runway Modeling is a fulfilling career for many ladies and even for men. But in the African continent, the opposite is usually the same. Many ladies who do engage in the runway modeling show do that as part time jobs. Only very few among them struggle to have the show event as fulfilling careers.

Here are some reasons for such situation in Africa

Traditional Moral Standards

One major reason that prevents many beautiful ladies from taking the runway modeling show as fulfilling careers in their lives is because of traditional moral values which are part and parcel of every core African person. Most Africans believe that the runway modeling has to do with indecent dressing that exposes the ladies’ bodies. This is frowned at in most developing African cities.

Parental pressures

Many African parents don’t like their daughters to get involved in runway modeling shows. Such parents see the model career as a gate way to a life of doom especially for their female wards. Parents like that instead encourage their ladies to acquire basic tertiary educational degree and pursue white color jobs. For them, such jobs are more dignifying than the runway modeling business.

Peer Pressures

This is another force that discourages a lot people from engaging in runway modeling. This is the case with the men folk. Many young men and adult men see the runway modeling as a female career. Hence, young men do cajole any of their peers that think of such career.

In all, the main issue is that Africa is still developing. Many people are still living with their superstitious beliefs. In the near future, the story will not be the same again.
